New York Youth Convention 2009 |

“The frogs were EVERYWHERE!” Rev. Stickler shouted from atop the pulpit, hands above his head, waving about. This is actually normal behavior when it comes to the annual NY Youth Convention, so don’t be alarmed. He was talking about the second plague God had sent over Egypt. Rev. Stickler described all the unpleasant details one might not think of encircling this particular plague. It certainly got everyone’s attention and proved to be a fun start to a worship-filled weekend. For those who don’t know about NY Youth Convention, it is two and a half days where youth, ages 12-36, come from all over the NY District and attend two night services, a day service, have the opportunity to join the mass choir, and spend the earliest hours of Saturday morning playing sports and eating pizza at the Rochester Sports Garden. |

Marriage Retreat 2009 |

The marriage retreat seems to get better every year. This year we traveled to Buffalo and stayed at Salvatore’s Grand Hotel. Attached to the hotel is Russell’s Steaks, Chops, and More. Part of the package was dinner for two - a steak that as Pastor Jonathan eloquently stated, “Melted in your mouth!” Thank you to those who worked so hard to make this year’s retreat a wonderful experience. The hotel was beautiful, but it was the special touches by those of NLA that made the difference. The Johnsons are a great couple and had a unique way of ministering to us. We laughed until we cried! Of course, there’s no better way to spend a few days away than with your best friend. As it was so aptly put…”a good time was had by all!” |

Silent Auction 2009 |

“There’s not a purchase without a cost.…” No, not the song but New Life Assembly’s second annual silent auction. It started in December of 2008. The phone lines were lit as church members cold called area businesses to solicit items. NLA members then secured the donated items. The items were given numbers and packages were put together. Bidding slips and item info cards were made. Then finally, it was time for the auction. |

Annual Ski Trip 2009 |

On February 24th the young and the brave ventured out to test the strength and agility of their bones and brawn. There’s nothing like skiing … once a year! The men’s ski trip was a great getaway from everyday cares and a wonderful time of fellowship with awesome men of God! It is so wonderful to be amongst men that are of positive and uplifting conversation and enjoy God’s creation on what turned out to be a perfect day to ski. Even though we took a lot of spills and were sore and stiff, it was a great time, and we’re already looking forward to next year!!! |

Sweethearts Banquet 2009 |

Valentine’s Day is a day set aside to celebrate and enjoy that special someone in your life. You want to take them out for a nice dinner, but where do you go? Tavern on the Green in New York City? A Bistro along the streets of France??? How about the NLA Chapel? Well, on Friday, February 13, The Sweetheart’s Banquet was truly the best place in town to be! Where else can you go for an outstanding meal, wonderful service, and a room full of wholesome fellowship?
The Chapel was transformed into an elegant dining hall. The artistry and décor were beautiful. Those that volunteered to serve were at the ready. When you walked in, you were greeted by warm and welcoming smiles. The evening was filled with games, laughter, music, and words of love and edification as people stood up to give honor to their spouses. As you looked around the room, you could see the beauty and strength in each couple. God’s plan for marriage is a sight to behold in the couples of NLA.
Thank you to all for your service of love in making this evening enjoyable for everyone in attendance. |
